General Prayer Requests:
- Pray for Spiritual Health - the Bible reminds us that the battle is not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers. Jerry and Brenda are constantly engaged in the battle of transforming lives for the Kingdom of God and the enemy doesn't like it one bit! Please fervently uphold the Schuetz's as a family and pray for God's mighty spiritual protection.
- Pray for Physical Health - Zambia is rife with many debilitating diseases. Malaria is a constant threat. Please pray that the Lord would protect the Schuetz's from any physical harm and would bless them with energy and vitality to do the work He has called them to.
- Pray for the Team - the Scheutz's do not work alone - they have a team both is Zambia and throughout Canada. Please pray for the unity of the Holy Spirit - that all would be of one accord for the Kingdom. Please also pray for those who are currently preparing for, or engaged in a short-term missions trip - pray that they would be a blessing to the Schuetz's and bring refreshment and pray that they would be blesssed as they serve.
- Pray for the Mission - pray for what is happening at Heart of Africa Mission and Christian Training College and pray for the Lord's clear guidance and vision for the future.
- Pray for the Boys - pray for God's continued blessing and protection over the three precious boys, Jared, Samuel and Joshua. Pray for Brenda as she teaches them. Pray that they would grow more and more in love with the Lord as they see their parents model Godly character and self-less love.
- Pray for the Lord's favor - pray that God's hand would go before them in all they do and prepare a way for them. Pray against the corruption and dishonesty of those who would seek to profit from the Schuetz's good will. Pray for discernment for the Schuetz's in all that they do - that they would see with the mind of Christ the real heart of the issues they face.
New Prayer Requests:
1. Health, protection and strength2. Home school - Jared's books were lost in the mail and did not arrive until November so we are flying to make up time
3. Our furlough is coming up in May - pray that the children will adjust well and not be heart broken to leave Zambia (lots of tears have already been shed just thinking about leaving for a short time - thank the Lord that He has given them a heart for Africa!)
4. Pray that all personal needs will be met here as well as overseas for us - when we left in '94 for Africa we sold our car, house and belongings so that when the going got tough here we wouldn't be tempted to run home - ha! We are glad that we did that! We needed to learn obedience and to trust the Lord completely. Furlough for us is a time of faith - we no longer have any earthly possessions in Canada. Would you pray that the Lord will provide anything that is needed for our stay there? We have witnessed God do miracle after miracle at Heart of
Africa, as well as personal miracles. We believe that the Lord will do what is needed again.
5. Specific prayer for Jerry - he is trying to get everything organized at HAM to leave in a few weeks. Pray for the Zambian faculty and management as they carry the load while we are away. This is a good step toward the indigenization of HAM! The goal is that one day no Canadians will be here! Pray for abundant blessing on the banana plantation, fishery, poultry project etc. so there will not be in financial need. Heart of Africa has just stopped receiving monthly operational money from Canada and has become self-sufficient. All money coming in for HAM from Canada will be used for capital projects at HAM and emergency needs, but not for operational costs at Heart of Africa Mission and Christian Training College. Jerry will continue to work via email with the faculty & accountants on a weekly basis and do a monthly
review of the weekly audits from overseas while on furlough.
6. Pray for HAM preschool and the outreach from it into the community - one of the children recently passed away - ministry into the community was opened through this tragic event
7. Pray for the bible school - new students for next term, students who have graduated and are church planting from both Zambia and the Congo, the faculty who are all working on getting their bachelors degrees through LOGOS College in Florida.
